Click for the Mantras and More – Thursday 5/15 Link List. Yesterday we opened up about how diabetes can bring us down. Today let’s share what gets us through a hard day. Or more specifically, a hard diabetes day. Is there something positive you tell yourself? Are there mantras that you fall back on to get you through? Is there something specific you do when your mood needs a boost? Maybe we’ve done that and we can help others do it too? (Thanks to Meri of Our Diabetic Life for suggesting this topic.)
What gets me thru a hard diabetes day?
Yeah, I know that wasn’t really the intent of this post, but I had to!
Actually, today was one of those days. First I kept feeling like I was low but every time I checked, I was in the low 100s. I was starting to think that something was wrong with my test strips and I should try some different ones. Then the low finally hit and didn’t want to come back up – yes, I got into those glucose tablets! And if you are wondering why I am using glucose tablets and not Smarties like I used to, I developed an allergy to the Smarties. I am guessing it is the dyes in them from what I have read.
When I finally got the low taken care of, I got stuck at 200! Of course I felt like crap and wasn’t getting the things done that I had to get done today. D has a way of killing plans.
When I need a mood booster, I crank up the music. There is nothing like some good music to get you in a better mood. It can’t help your blood sugar, but it sure can help your mood!
